In-between matches, we managed to sit down with Guido "guidson" Mendes for a short talk about the on-site qualifier.

Mojo Amsterdam is one of the few foreign teams in attendance in the on-site DreamHack Winter qualifier, which ultimately will advance two teams into tomorrow's main tournament.

While scores alone could practically answer the question, we asked Mendes how the qualifier has gone so far for his team. The young player eagerly replied by saying it has gone well for them, adding some thanksto the other teams in their group.

"It went quite well for us. Not to be arrogant or anything, but we had a lot of no-name teams in our group. We won a lot of matches easily, and we've now managed to go through to the playoffs and win our first game."

Mendes expects to meet ColdGame further into the playoffs, a match which will put his team up against players such as Danniél "dalito" Morales, Daniel "rape" Börzsönyi and Joel "emilio" Mako.

When quizzed about the team's preparation ahead of DreamHack Winter, he noted that they had practiced thoroughly, "despite the lack of online tournaments, especially in the Benelux area."

With the current situation, and the lack of the ESL Pro Series league in Benelux, the team tries to attend international events in order to gain some experience, he added.

Discussing the possibility of reaching the main tournament, Mendes made it clear that they would, in case, like to be drawn into group B, which houses ESPORT-TV, ESC Gaming and AGAiN. Sounds daring, but there is a reason to why that group is desired.

"We really want to be in the same group as ESPORT-TV. They have three Dutch players in their team, so we really want to beat them. We've already defeated them at some national tournaments."

"They're now attending with two substitutes, however. It'd be much harder to play against hyvlarn and atLaNtis, they are much more experienced, I guess. But we feel our odds are better there."
